INSOL International / World Bank Group Latin America Round Table

Our next Latin America Round Table will take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay, ahead of the INSOL International Punta del Este Seminar.

INSOL International has a strong and growing membership base across Latin America. The active participation of members, regulators, lawmakers, insolvency practitioners, judges, and other key stakeholders from the region reflects a clear demand for dialogue and knowledge-sharing across jurisdictions. The World Bank Group is the largest provider of assistance to Latin American countries in strengthening and modernising insolvency systems.

The establishment of the Latin America Round Table was discussed by the World Bank Group, INSOL International, and other institutions during INSOL International’s Annual Conference in London in 2022. The Round Table aims to support the development of effective insolvency and restructuring frameworks across the region.

Objectives of the Round Table:

• Provide a platform for high-level dialogue between the private sector, policymakers, academia, and the judiciary

• Encourage coordination and collaboration through the exchange of experience and expertise

• Elevate insolvency and restructuring reform on the Latin America policy agenda

• Foster an annual forum to promote continued discussion and learning across the region

Discussions may cover topics such as the role of the judiciary in domestic and cross-border insolvencies, court-to-court cooperation, maximising the value of non-performing assets, and developing effective insolvency regimes for small and medium-sized enterprises.
