The ascent of cryptocurrencies to the mainstream is linked in large part to their intrinsic benefits - being weightless, digital and facilitating almost instant global exchange at a high level of confidentiality without the need to involve expensive intermediaries. Yet, these same advantages can also present challenges where there is a need for dispute resolution, particularly in the context of insolvency proceedings. The speakers will discuss common themes and issues between recent cryptocurrency related restructuring and insolvency case matters across Singapore, Hong Kong, BVI and globally including Torque Trading, GateCoin, Vauld and more. We will discuss safekeeping and management of crypto-assets, the use of specialist technologies in asset-tracing and recovery, valuation-related issues, and legal considerations and remedies.
